The firm is offering its Postpaid and Prepaid customers a respite by cancelling overage costs and providing unlimited speak, text, and internet usage until February 6, 2025. The carrier is also eliminating some costs (though it has not indicated which ones) for any residential or business wireline orders placed until January 7, 2026, providing some relief to consumers struggling to get back on track.
In addition, AT&T is assisting firefighters and first responders combating the flames by deploying portable assets from the FirstNet fleet, ensuring they have dependable connection where it is most needed.
FirstNet, which stands for the First Responder Network Authority, is a specialised communication network designed only for emergency services. Its purpose is to ensure that first responders have reliable, secure, and timely communication during crises, particularly when traditional networks are congested or offline.
One of the networkโs main resources is the FirstNet fleetโs mobile units, such as Cell on Wheels (COWs) and Satellite Cell on Light Truck (SatCOLT). These are mobile towers placed on trucks or trailers that may be swiftly deployed to provide critical cellular coverage to locations that have lost service.
We are continuously deploying and refueling generators to provide service continuity to our customers until commercial power is restored, and we have set up staging yards throughout the region, equipped with additional network assets and generators.
In addition to that, AT&Tโs specialised weather team is always monitoring weather trends to ensure timely updates. As soon as the circumstances allows, the carrier intends to continue providing assistance to places in most need. But, fingers crossed, the flames will be contained quickly, and those extra resources will be unnecessary.
