In 2026, Apple may introduce an upgraded Magic Mouse with touch and voice command features

Apple may be working on a radical new look for its Magic Mouse, which hasnโ€™t changed much since its launch in 2009. According to Korean insider yeux1122, the upgraded Magic Mouse might have ergonomic enhancements, touch controls, and perhaps voice command functionality.

Fixing Magic Mouseโ€™s Most Controversial Feature

One of the most aggravating parts of the current Magic Mouse is the charging portโ€™s inconvenient placement on the deviceโ€™s bottom. This design decision makes it difficult to operate the mouse while it charges, resulting in years of criticism.

This problem could ultimately be resolved by moving the charging port to a more convenient location in the next redesign, which is anticipated to make its debut in 2026. Moving the connector would solve the usability issues that have persisted for more than ten years, even if Appleโ€™s recent transition to USB-C charging in 2024 was a welcome advance.

Touch Controls and Voice Commands: An Advancement

The rumorโ€™s most exciting element is the potential incorporation of voice commands. The updated Magic Mouse may include Appleโ€™s Siri voice assistant, which would allow users to do things like start programs, change system settings, and even do searchesโ€”all without using the keyboard, according to yeux1122.

Furthermore, the new Magic Mouse could improve upon its current multi-touch features by adding sophisticated gesture controls and hand movement detection.

A More Comfortable and Modern Design

Ergonomics appear to be an emphasis of the makeover. The current Magic Mouseโ€™s flat profile has been widely criticised for making it difficult to use for lengthy periods of time. A more ergonomic form might appeal to a broader audience by delivering both comfort and functionality.

Apple is expected to release the revamped Magic Mouse along with a new MacBook Pro in 2026. This next MacBook Pro is likely to include an OLED display and Appleโ€™s next-generation M6 processor, paving the way for a unified hardware ecosystem.
