Nothing OS 3.0 will be available for Nothing Phone 1, Phone 2a Plus, and CMF Phone 1 customers in early 2025.
Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 2a are getting an upgrade to Nothing OS 3.0, which runs on Android 15. This version will be available on additional devices from the London-based OEM by early 2025. Nothing OS 3.0 is based on Android 15 and includes new features and other software enhancements. The business has also published the native Nothing Gallery app as part of the upgrade. Notably, the Nothing Phone 2 was released with the Android 13-based Nothing OS 2.0, whilst the Phone 2a runs Android 14 with Nothing OS 2.5 on top.
Nothing OS 3.0 Phased Rollout for Phones 2 and 2a Begins
The stable version of the Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 upgrade is now available to Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 2a customers worldwide, the firm said in an X post. To download the update, click to Settings > System Update on your Phone 2 or Phone 2a smartphone. If you do not see the update on your device yet, it may appear within a few days. The stable version of Nothing OS 3.0 will be available to all users, staggered across devices and geographies, by the end of 2024.
The Nothing OS 3.0 stable upgrade will ultimately be available for more Nothing-branded and sub-brand handsets. It will be available for Nothing Phone 1, Phone 2a Plus, and CMF Phone 1 customers in early 2025.
The Nothing OS 3.0 upgrade included shared widgets, which are presently only available between Nothing devices. The functionality already allows users to share Photo Widgets (square), and the business is working on adding support for other widget types.
Nothing has also revealed a Countdown Widget for the Nothing OS 3.0 upgrade, which will be available on Google Play later this month through the Nothing Widgets app. It has the AI-powered Smart Drawer, which helps users to automatically categorize their apps into folders.
The stable version of Nothing OS 3.0 includes improvements such as expanded Quick Settings, modified Pop-up view, improved Typography, and graphic and performance enhancements. The business also launched the native Nothing Gallery app, which has sophisticated search and enhanced editing options including as filters, markup, and recommendations.
