Samsung has always been slow to provide new Android upgrades, mostly due to their extensive customisation of the OS with its One UI. For Samsung customers who are anxious to embrace the newest Android features, this strategy frequently results in delays even if it creates a distinctive user experience. Samsung stated in October 2024 that One UI 7 will debut alongside their next Galaxy S25 series when Android 15 was unveiled. To the joy of many, they also revealed a beta program that would let Galaxy S24 customers test out the new software before itโs formally released.
The beta program, which started slightly later than expected, has already passed a critical milestone with the release of its third iteration. The beta 3 release was originally announced on X (previously Twitter), with one user highlighting its availability in the United Kingdom. Based on prior beta releases, itโs quite likely that the update will reach users in additional countries, such as the United States, Germany, India, Poland, and Korea.
This current beta release focusses on improving the user experience and resolving concerns raised in previous versions. Samsung has improved scrolling in the app drawer, modified Game Booster settings, and fixed issues with the quick panel, Nowbar, and lock screen. In addition, they improved the Edge panelโs functioning and made a number of other small changes.
The release of One UI 7 beta 3 focusses more on refining and optimising the program experience. For Galaxy S24 users, it provides a preview of the future of Android on their devices, replete with Samsungโs unique One UI customisations. Itโs an exciting moment for Samsung enthusiasts, as the firm continues to improve its software offerings.
From my opinion, this upgrade is a good indicator. It illustrates that Samsung is actively seeking customer feedback and working to enhance its software. Iโm particularly curious in seeing how these enhancements transfer into the final version of One UI 7 and what new features it may bring to the Galaxy S24 and future Galaxy smartphones.
